SPECIALISATION IS OUR STRENGTH

Railway

The growing demand in rail traffic is good news. However, an increase in business makes it necessary to increase capacity. At the same time, the market is becoming increasingly defined by pressure to reduce costs and an over-stretched personnel market. An efficient personnel policy is becoming more important than ever before.

The railway branch is a focal point Drive-Consult's work. Our selection process fulfills leading state-owned railway company standards and complies with the new EC directive. We use testing equipment supplied by the global market leader Schuhfried GmbH (www.schuhfried.at). Drive-Consult is the Austrian market leader in servicing private railway companies.

Job specifications
Job specifications are defined in a preliminary meeting. Different requirements must be met by locomotive drivers as by train managers, station inspectors, shunting staff or wagon masters. In addition there may be company specific requirements. We consider the new EC directive as minimum standard. For example, staff with customer contact, customer friendliness and service orientation are also of importance.

Legal regulations
There is a long tradition of using psychological aptitude diagnostics when selecting railway personnel. The Austrian government regulates staff aptitude testing in the railway bylaw 2003 §7(4) Lit.1 by prescribing a general review of physical and mental aptitude for all security-relevant personnel. The Euopean Commission has for years strived to harmonise national legislation. This led to directive 2007 59 EG, directly effecting human resources and personnel selection, and becoming effective for all member states (except Malta and Cyprus) in autumn 2009.
