The truck driver's job is changing. The current apprenticeship model has not only failed but been made obsolete by the EC Directive 2003/59/EG. Germany has responded with the Professional Drivers Qualification Act. The Austrian Ministry of Transport passed the Basic Skills and Advanced Traning for Professional Drivers Bylaw on the 2nd May 2008. At the same time, the branch is suffering from a lack of drivers, particularly in long haul traffic. Finding the right personnel is becoming a more central challenge for heavy goods enterprises. Drive-Consult supports shipping and freight companies in their recruitment and selection processes.

Industry and the economy essentially work according to just-in-time concepts, minimal storage and a precise form of disposition. Ultimately, such high demand can only be serviced by quality heavy goods operations and qualified drivers.
